Ripa Monastery Opening with Dalai Lama and Namkha Drimed Rinpoche
The Shambhala community is warmly invited to attend the official opening of the Ripa monastery in Orissa with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rinpoche to held 12 – 16 January 2010. There will be a series of ceremonies and celebrations throughout the week. The opening ceremonies will most likely be followed by a pilgrimage tour or a retreat program.
Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche, His Eminence’s son and brother-in-law to the Sakyong, offers the following message:
“I would like to formally announce that the Ripa monastic institution in Orissa, India, Rigon Thupten Mindrolling, is now ready to be formally inaugurated. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has accepted to come and bless the new site. In fact His Holiness will be spending three full days with us conducting the opening ceremonies. The event is confirmed and scheduled to take place during 12 – 16 January 2010. It is an honor and a great privilege for us to be hosting His Holiness Dalai Lama once again.
“I, on behalf of my Father, the head of the lineage and Ripa family and Ripa monastic community, would like to extend my warmest invitation to all who wish to attend this historic occasion. In addition, the week following the formal inauguration (17 – 23 January 2010) we will be conducting either a teaching-pilgrimage of the sacred sites in Orissa, or a retreat that will be held at the Monastery. You will be informed soon of the many details regarding the formal Inauguration ceremonies and the event following the formal Inauguration. I send my prayers and blessing.
