Mountain StatesShambhala Day Letter from Center Director Pam Turner
Dear Shambhala Sangha,
I am wishing you a wonderful Tibetan New Year of the Water Dragon! Please come and share in the celebration next Wednesday evening, February 22.
The last year has been filled with accomplishment at our Fort Collins Center. We are financially healthy, with new cushions, a new bike rack, a new lapel microphone, and many new members and volunteers. Shambhala Day is a time to reflect and appreciate each other with food, music, and celebration. Inspired by the Sakyong, we are creating a culture of kindness by celebrating together.
Shambhala Day is traditionally the day that Richard Reoch, the President of Shambhala, asks for our support for international activities. The activities this year include working towards having a new integrated financial model that promises to decrease the number of times you are asked for financial support. The goal is to raise just over $1 million on Shambhala Day. If you feel inspired to contribute now, I will include the link below. We will also have pledge cards available at the Center.
There is a lot of talk in Shambhala about mandala principle. A mandala is a visual representation of a shared vision, a kingdom with a center and circles radiating out and in. The center of our Shambhala mandala is the Sakyong and Sakyong Wangmo. We radiate in to them and they radiate out to us. There is a constant flow of energy and communication in both directions.
If you wonder where we get the materials to practice, the curriculum for teachers, the training for meditation instructors, the constant opportunities to support our practice and study, look to the center of the mandala. More than those material blessings, we are supported by the view of the Sakyong and Sakyong Wangmo and their staffs. They spend every hour of their lives to be available to inspire and educate us on the path. They see basic goodness in us and in society, and they embody basic goodness, generosity, exertion, meditation, compassion, discipline, and loving kindness for us. They are our mirrors of human potential.
Please be generous in supporting the center of our Shambhala Mandala. If everyone receiving this gave $1, we would raise almost $1,000 today. Any donation or pledge will be welcomed.
Thank you in advance if you have already contributed.
In appreciation,
Pam Turner
