Featured StoriesSakyong Announces “The Shambhala Principle”
The Sakyong, Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche, yesterday announced the publication of a new book, “The Shambhala Principle”, to be released this year. “It is the public expression of our Shambhala vision,” he said.
Speaking to the global Shambhala community in this year’s Shambhala Day address, he said: “This year I would like to highlight the 50th anniversary of the arrival in the west of the Vidyadhara, the venerable Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, who brought these teachings to the West. We are the legacy and the aspiration of this one human being who wished to help the world.”
The Sakyong said his book, to be published in the spring, was devoted to the principle of basic goodness and enlightened society. He had written it as a dialogue with this father, reflecting his own personal journey of contemplating the meaning and social relevance of the transmission he received from his father.
The book includes chapters on the relevance of the Shambhala Principle to economics, politics, medicine, the environment. “You can use these chapters to bring the principle into your life and use them in discussions with friends,” he said.
“Right now we are at a time, globally, where many of us are wondering about society and what will come about,” he said. “Essentially, we have inherited the principle of basic goodness, which can be a dynamic and socially transformative principle. The Shambhala principle is not simply medicine for ourselves. This principle can be applied to the social mosaic of the world we are living in.”
The Sakyong asked everyone in the community to “engender and express this principle in your own languages,” adding that, “in this way Shambhala would become a diverse and universal community.”
Following are the videos that were both produced for and created by Shambhala Day. The Shambhala Day International Broadcast will be available next week once Centers and Groups have had a chance to watch the broadcast together this coming weekend.

I continue to search for the Sakyong’s Shambhala Day Address, to no avail. The storm here in New England upset our Shambhala Day plans. I would love to read the message.
Thanks,
Patrick

Hello-
I am checking back in to find the Sakyong’s 2013 Shambhala Day address, which i believe a few days ago here said it would be posting soon. I was a volunteer on Shambhala Day with the behind the scenes activities that day in the kitchen, and i missed it. As well as i would bet there are a number of folks that would love to see this, that missed it whether it was due volunteer activities or for the fact that they were at work that day- is it in the cue???
Regards-
B
