New director of Dechen Choling to take office in 2014

The Sakyong, Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche, has appointed Ms Konstanze Brockstedt to be the next director of Dechen Choling. She will gradually take up her new responsibilities during the months leading up to Shambhala Day 2014, when she will formally assume her new role. At that time the current director, Mr Simon La Haye, will retire after his many years of devoted service.

In a letter announcing Konstanze’s appointment, Mr Christoph Schoenherr, the Kalapa Envoy to Europe, writes:

“Konstanze has served our mandala with sustained devotion and warm-hearted care for many years, particularly at Dechen Choling. She is widely known and respected. Her natural leadership qualities, insightful manner and openness, together with her aspiration to contribute to the Sakyong’s vision for the future of Shambhala, will prove extremely helpful and inspiring for this next phase of the life of Dechen Choling.

At the same time, I would like to express the great appreciation that the Sakyong and the entire mandala feel for the amazing years of service that Simon has devoted –and continues to offer — to Dechen Choling. He, almost more than anyone, has helped shape it into the international practice centre that it is today. We will all have an opportunity to express our gratitude to him formally when the leadership transition takes place on Shambhala Day.”
