Shambhala News ServiceJane Arthur appointed Director of Residential and Retreat Centres
The Sakyong, Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche, has appointed Ms Jane Arthur to the position of Director of Residential and Retreat Centres. This is a new position on the Kalapa Executive, which the Sakyong has created to strengthen the links between the centre of the mandala and all of Shambhala’s land centres, residential facilities and retreat centres.
Ms Arthur was the former director of the Boulder Shambhala Center and, most recently, the Director of Karme Choling. During her tenure as Director of Karme Choling, she fostered a spirit of collaboration among the major land centres: Dechen Choling, Dorje Denma Ling, Karme Choling and Shambhala Mountain Center. Moving towards a more collaborative approach has included joint annual planning retreats, twice monthly telephone meetings and the combined fund-raising campaign, “Brilliant Rays of the Great Eastern Sun.”
As Director of Residential and Retreat Centres, her role will be to represent the vision of the Sakyong and the policies of the Kalapa Council to the leadership of the residential and retreat centres throughout the mandala and work with them to ensure the vision and policies are executed. She will act as a direct channel for consultation with and advice from the leadership of the residential and retreat centres to the centre of the mandala.
In addition to relating to the four major land centres, she will also work with Dorje Khyung Dzong, Gampo Abbey, Milk Lake, Sky Lake Lodge, Casa Werma, Windhorse Retreat Center, Marpa House, Casa Garuda (in consultation with Shambhala Europe) and other such residential and retreat centres that may be established throughout the mandala.
By creating this seat on the Kalapa Executive (which includes the heads of all the central services of the mandala), the Sakyong has established a clearer line of communication and connection with all the residential and retreat centres located throughout our Shambhala world.
Please join with us in welcoming Ms Arthur to this new position in our global leadership.
