This is going to be great. On the evening of April 30th, representatives of a generation of young leaders from around the Shambhala mandala will gather together in San Francisco, California for the inaugural Ziji Collective International Leadership Summit.

These leaders, many of whom have been organizing Young Sangha nights in their various cities and exploring new ways Shambhala vision can be of benefit to this generation and our world, have been invited to come together to develop camaraderie, share skillful means and best practices, innovate and collaborate. As part of the summit, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche will address this assembly, further sharing a vision for this rising generation of Shambhalians.

All in all, 70 people are coming from six different countries, from Austria to Mexico, and we even will be joined by a young, socially engaged monastic from Gampo Abbey, Loden Nyima. In addition, members of the Ziji Collective in Europe will be organizing a gathering of their own, connecting those members that could not travel to San Francisco with the energy of the summit.

Summit participants will attend workshops from Acharya Melissa Moore, Shastris Nick Kranz and Holly Gayley, and Ziji Collective members Katrin Welch and Alex Van Gils on a variety of themes such as working with conflict, leadership, and creativity with salons and events. The gathering will also invite people to share innovative ideas and projects from their local groups.

After the Summit, these Ziji leaders will help to put on the Being Brave event with the Sakyong and Acharya Pema Chodron — some participating as part of a work-study program, some developing and hosting a vibrant program for children that connects with what the parents are learning. We are raising funds through the online crowd-sourcing website Indiegogo for Being Brave scholarships. Please join us [here] in making this remarkable event accessible to these young leaders, many of whom are traveling thousands of miles to be a part of creating enlightened society in this way.
