A Key Program for Shambhala Ukraine
by Ivan Salomatin

The first weeks of November brought to the Ukrainian Society of Shambhala an historical event. In the very heart оf the colorful Carpathian Mountains in a region of Yamna we lead a half dathun called “The Four Immeasurables.”

This event is so important because of the fact that this retreat was organized and conducted exclusively by Ukraininas themselves. Our local teacher Shastri Maks Lan had his debut in the role of the director of the program, and Olga Zegar was, for the first time in her life, the coordinator of such a big program.

The participants of this program came from many different parts of Ukraine and represented not only the Shambhala lineage, but also lineages of Tibetan Buddhism as well as a lineage of Korean Zen. The Golden Sun of The Great East was shinning particularly brightly!

It was also symbolic that the lhasang that concluded the retreat on one of the Carphatian Peaks coincided with the celebration lhasang on behalf of the coming third child of the Sakyong and Sakyong Wangmo.

Celebration!
