In the Tenets of Shambhala Governance, it is written “Our shared Shambhala vision is to create enlightened society actually, not merely metaphorically. Socially, our shared path is to evolve an open, compassionate and empowered culture.”  To realize this vision the Sakyong’s Council created the Community Care Council. The chief duties of the Community Care Council include envisioning, reviewing, prioritizing, and coordinating projects related to community care in the mandala. The Council helps create cohesion among the many positive projects that arise, helps ensure that everyone is working together with a sense of the overall needs of the mandala, and helps build on accomplishments elsewhere. The Community Care Council responds to community challenges that aren’t currently being addressed. Resources of time and money devoted to our common goals are thus managed more effectively, the opportunity to build supportive networks mandala-wide are optimized, and the inspiration and support we offer one another are enhanced.

The Council is composed of members of the Sakyong’s Council who are Chairpersons of Working Groups, as well as the Sakyong’s Council Representative to Shambhala Center Directors, the Commander of the Desung Corps, the Chairperson of the Shambhala Commission on the Status of Women and Feminine Principle, and representatives from the International Care & Conduct Panel, as follows:

Your thoughts, comments and questions about the Community Care Council are very much welcomed.
