Public Experiential Leadership Program Based on Kasung Practices

EastPoint Leadership Training will be presenting some of the meditation-in-action exercises of the Dorje Kasung (“protectors of the Dharma”) for the first time publicly, in a secular context and language. These elemental practices were originally transmitted to the Dorje Kasung at Magyal Pomra Encampments by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in the 70’s and 80s, and subsequently by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche has encouraged us to offer some of these teachings outside the Shambhala community in order to benefit others, particular those in leadership roles.

As EastPoint Leadership Training we have combined these practices with the latest leadership development models (such as Bill Torbert’s ‘Action Inquiry’, Don Beck’s ‘Spiral Dynamics’ and Ken Wilbur’s Integral approach) to provide a secular framework and language, and have incorporated executive coaching techniques to accelerate the learning process for participants. We believe this experiential learning approach is essential for these challenging times, and will help to reveal and develop participants’ inherent qualities of authenticity, courage, compassion and resilience.

Each program includes an experiential out-door leadership retreat, with pre- and post-retreat coaching to help formulate and implement each participants’ learning and action plan. The program bridges the gap between a theoretical understanding of leadership levels and the experience of actually embodying each of those levels. (As Albert Einstein said – “The only source of knowledge is experience”)

The programs are ideal for new and experienced leaders, managers, executives, employee groups, or entire departments.

The first two pilot programs will take place in Nova Scotia, Canada, September 28 to October 2, 2009; and in North Carolina, USA, October 12 to 16, 2009.
