Shambhala Time Out

For the mischievous onset of April, the Shambhala Times once again takes *time out* of its regular reporting to cover more *sensational happenings* in our global mandala and the groundswell of Shambhala culture in the most offbeat places.

Shambhala Households Take To The Streets

In an effort to encourage transient members of the Shambhala community to incorporate Shambhala Household teachings into their lives, the Office of Culture and Decorum is offering the Shambhala Mobile Shrine for sale through Shambhala Media. Studies from the Shambhala Administration of Polling Statistics (SAPS) have shown use of the shrine decreases road rage by 97%.

Further SAPS reports indicate that three out of four Shambhalians now make up 75% of our community.

Archival Footage of Early Shambhala Anthem Recovered

The Shambhala Archives announced today the recovery of rare musical footage long thought lost! The film depicts Lady Godelpusall, one of the Druk Sakyong’s earliest musical proteges singing the Shambhala Anthem in a style unique to the Druk Sakyong.

Note the Rabbit Ears in frame 1:00, in honour of the Year of the Rabbit, indicating this was made 60 years ago, shortly after the Anthem was composed in gaelic by the Druk Sakyong on a small island somewhere between Tibet and the Isle of Man. Watch the video below:

Shambhala Synchronized Swim Team

At the request of the Sakyong, some members and advisors to the Kalapa Council have formed the first Shambhala Men’s Synchronized Swim Team, now in training for the London 2012 Olympics. Team captain, President Reoch, has informed the Shambhala Times that practices are going as harmoniously as he envisioned. The only obstacle, he pointed out, was the growing objection to weekly leg waxing, necessary for a smooth performance.

Babies Everywhere in Year of Rabbit

The recently appointed Acharya of Shambhala Households has commissioned a study to see how birth rates among Shambhalians could help with efforts to expand our mandala in the coming decade.

This year is projected to see an exponential increase in the number of babies born to Shambhala households. Two reasons are notable. First the birth of Jetsun Drukmo has inspired second generation Shambhalians to “keep up with the Mukpos.” Second, the year of the rabbit, like its namesake, is associated with prolific breeding — leading to the formation of “dharma brat packs.”

Growing Movement Against “IM”?

A small contingent of rebellious Shambhala youth are taking their cue from the Sakyong’s Shambhala Day address on “making the impossible possible” and removing the “im” from just about anything.

Their upstart manifesto reads:

The truth of impermanence means that everything implodes, and we are impotent to prevent change. Fixating on what is impermanent causes the imbalance of passion and aggression. These wild emotions lead almost immediately to immoral action, generating immutable karma. Thus one should remain impartial to the ups and downs of life!
