Water Dragon

This poem by Shastri Dan Hessey was spontaneously composed about the water dragon during a Werma Feast in Boulder this past weekend.

Water Dragon

Under the stars in the ink-black sky
Ethereal breath
Gathers in cumulus magnificence.
Dragon’s thunder-heart beats.

Pitching down the mountain’s green slope,
A hidden waterfall mists and sprays where
Rainbows shimmer and
Dragonflies hover and dance.

Rains pound and leap,
Soaking vast verdant grasslands.
A herd of wild horses fords a swollen stream,
The Dragon’s veins flowing.

A white-haired man waits as his wife bends
over the well to draw moon-flecked water.
As they share the steaming tea with the shrine,
The night-Dragon sees the water-moon.

On the frozen snowy lake
One can hardly see
A white rabbit’s red eye blink.
Dragon’s thought
Is.

Thanks for sharing Dan. Beautiful Poem. Here in KOS today it’s a snow dragon blowing fog breath, but smiling with icicle teeth!

Your tender wise strength warms me on this snowy Oregon morning. Deeply bowing to you.
