We are seeking candidates interested in playing a vital role in our global mandala as Shambhala’s Director of Finance.
The Director will work with the Chagdzo Kyi Khyap and report to the Executive Director. S/he manages a staff of three employees in the Shambhala Office of Finance.
The Director is a signing officer for Shambhala Canada and Shambhala USA.
The position is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Candidates should have background in accounting, with appropriate degree or professional qualification or equivalent work experience, preferably in the charity sector. Experience managing staff and professionals on contract essential. The salary and work arrangements are negotiable.

The responsibilities of the Office of Finance include:
General Accounting
Maintaining the books for Shambhala Canada and Shambhala USA; managing accounting for Shambhala’s the central budget, including inter-affiliate donations and transfers; and collecting annual financial information for North American affiliates and working with the auditors to prepare annual reports.
Financial Reporting
Preparing periodic management reports for Shambhala’s central budget; collecting financial information for affiliates outside North America and preparing an annual integrated report; and providing financial information as requested in support of special projects.
Office/Organizational Management
Includes the Canadian payroll; administering insurance, including Canadian Health, North American liability, general and property insurance, and North American officers and directors insurance; maintaining paperwork and serving as the recognized agent for our Nova Scotia non-profit society; collecting donation information and issuing tax receipts for all Canadian affiliates; and issuing tax acknowledgment letters for US donors who donate to the central services budget.
