Born and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico. After high school there and at Mt. Hermon School, went to St. John's College and eventually University of New Mexico, studying architecture. Became a student of Trungpa Rinpoche in 1975. Worked at the University of Colorado for more than 20 years. Involved with and chaired Dekyong Council in Boulder. A member of the Portland Oregon Shambhala Center where he's been on the council for many years.
