Arts and PoetryHow Good the World!
paintings offered by Christine Labich, of the Pioneer Valley Shambhala CenterChristine Labich has been gazing at, studying, and tending to the natural world for her lifetime, beginning with her childhood on a pioneering organic farm in New Hampshire. She studied ecology and evolutionary biology at Brown University and Cornell University before having twins and turning to painting as a way of expressing her appreciation for our world and for the exquisite and intelligent manifestations of life that surround us. Her art is rooted in being a Shambhala practitioner, a mother, and a gardener. “My daily activities ask me to be fully engaged in the world and to recognize the beauty of what is right in front of me. They invite me to really see what is happening and to respond with care.” Ms. Labich’s paintings celebrate light, atmosphere, and color in the natural world, and their ability to bring us forward into feeling and appreciation. “I like to imagine that my paintings say, ‘Look! Look how good the world is!” Christine currently paints and teaches in Amherst, MA.
