By Marc Matheson
Last week, I gave a short talk to the Gay Buddhist Sangha, a small group of beginning students and meditators in San Francisco. I’d been invited to address the group’s current discussion theme, Basic Goodness and Bodhicitta – Engaging in the World As It Is, from my perspective as a practitioner of Shambhala buddhism.
Although I’ve trained and am authorized as a Shambhala meditation instructor, and am told that I’m a good storyteller, I’m not an experienced teacher. Nevertheless I felt confident enough – and nervous enough – to talk a little about my story and understanding.
The talk was recorded and is now posted both on the Gay Buddhist Sangha website and at YouTube. (The GBS site also features video of talks by other speakers, including my friend Jana Drakka, born in Scotland and now a Zen priest dedicated to community service in San Francisco’s homeless and other at-risk communities.)
Hope that you enjoy my storytelling…

Hi, I hope this gets to Marc, or he/she managing the videos of his (Marc’s) presentation, e.g.,
the one in which he recounts the story of Dorje taking in the little bird…

and if captioning this would be helpful, please write me.
