Pausing our Schedule, Resources for our Readers

Dear Shambhala Times readers,

In response to yet another instance of violence against Black Americans, the Times Editorial staff has paused our scheduled editorial calendar for the moment, and want to begin by amplifying BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) voices, particularly BIPOC dharma teachers, doing work in the space of racial justice.

From Kelsey Blackwell, for white people: Are You Doing Enough

Kelsey’s article includes many, many educational resources of different kinds, specifically for “white bodies wondering how to be of service towards dismantling systems of white supremacy.”

Dr. Shanté Paradigm Smalls has compiled a list of BIPOC teachers and BIPOC-led dharma organizations that you can learn from and support. This is in addition to their own Weekly Dharma Gathering platform.

Thank you for focusing in this topic so that more see all.

Bravo. Not talking about something because it makes you uncomfortable is the height of privilege. It’s time we talk about the structural violence embedded in this culture we claim to be trying to enlighten, and that Shambhala too will replicate again and again unless we make it explicit and talk about it. A lot. Is there any other option for anyone seriously aspiring to act like a bodhisattva?
