Photograph of the Year

Sean Raggett’s large format photograph Queen’s Woods was selected to appear in this year’s Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize show at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG), London.

Born in 1972, Canadian photographer Sean Raggett undertook an honours degree in media studies in Vancouver, Canada and now lives and works in London. His photographs have been exhibited and published in Europe and Canada and his work was included in the Photgraphic Portrait Prize in 2007.

The photograph was chosen from a pool of 6,300 entries, and is Raggett’s second accepted entry to show at the NPG.The exhibition runs until February 21, 2010.

What’s more, Terence Pepper, photographic curator of the NPG, selected it as his choice of the year in an article for the Telegraph on “Pictures of the Year: The Photographers’ Choice.”
