Honoring Earth Day 2021 in Shambhala

Irene and Jocabed at UN COP25

By Irene Woodard

In December 2020, who knew a year later we would be in the Covid Pandemic.

I was attending the UN COP25 in Madrid representing GreenFaith, as chair of the the Board of Directors of this 28 year old interfaith environmental action organization. A colleague in GreenFaith introduced me to Jocabed Solano, attending from Panama. We hit it off, similar sense of humor I think, and Neddy took this photo. During the year of zoom calls, Jocabed gave a webinar presentation, mentioning her people, The Gunadule having 72 expressions /definitions for “earth”.  Wanting to hear more, we corresponded and consequently Touching the Earth Collective has asked her to speak on this topic for our Earth Day presentation. She is a lively presenter, and I am sure you’ll experience her warmth and humor. And there will be time for q and a.

Also, a very special development… The Shambhala Touching the Earth Collective has been meeting once a month with the Directors, or representatives of the Directors of the Land Centers to inspire the care of the earth on our lands , in our buildings and with the community. Each Land Center has produced a mini video, showcasing something that they have going on in this realm. Jim Wagner has put them together for a 15-20 minutes compiled look at distinct efforts of each Center.

Please join us in celebrating Earth Day on April 25th, Sunday Gathering. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share the good work being accomplished…
