Dharma TeachingsMap to the Golden Age
Shastri Dan Hessey has spent the last 10 years contemplating and translating the I-Ching, or Yijing, applying the view of establishing enlightened society. This ancient Taoist text illuminates the flow of life force, events, and influence as the seasons change and one situation morphs into another. Often called “The Book of Changes,” the I-Ching offers wisdom for navigating our world that complements the Shambhala teachings.
In this interview, recorded at Boulder’s KGNU community radio station, Jennifer Holder asks Shastri Hessey to share his vision for how the I-Ching elucidates the pathway of enlightened society. He explains basic principles, describes his creative journey, and offers wisdom from several of the 64 hexagrams that communicate the ups and downs of life and advise humanity on how to proceed.
Shastri Hessey will be leading a workshop on the I-Ching and Enlightened Society — taught with Samten Kobelt and Guest Speaker Eva Wong — at Shambhala Mountain Center October 29-31, and again this spring. More information on these teachings can be found at www.ichingandsociety.com
