Shambhala Day celebration in Boulder 2011

Boulder’s newly renovated shrine room glittered on Shambhala Day to welcome Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche out of his year-long retreat. Members of the Mukpo and Ripa families, the Kalapa Council, and Shambhalians from near and far were present to celebrate the new year together with the Sakyong and Sakyong Wangmo. As part of the celebrations, a magnificent new thangka by Cynthia Moku, depicting the Primordial Rigden, was unveiled and blessed. View photos from the celebration by Marv Ross below.

    Wow! A ceiling. What a concept. The Rigden thangka looks a lot better here than in the poster copies around centers. It looks brighter whereas the posters are rather dreary, if I do say so. Who is the young child holding Lady Diana’s hand?
