Sakyong and Family, Video, Audio, PhotosCelebration of New Court in Boulder
More than one hundred Shambhalians gathered on Sunday, May 1 to celebrate the Sakyong’s new court in Boulder. The new court was purchased earlier in the year to accommodate the Sakyong’s growing family and to serve as his seat in the region. There was an atmosphere of good cheer as guests arrived, many for their first visit. Proceeding through an elegant entrance, one steps into a living area that combines the grandeur of a high ceiling and mountain view with the earthiness of Colorado construction, wood beams and all.
To mark this auspicious occasion, Alex and Carol Halpern presented a Mukpo family treasure to the Sakyong and the Sakyong Wangmo. Decades ago, they purchased a seventy-pound silver bar marked with the Trungpa seal that had been among Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s belongings at the Boulder court. The Halperns had intended all along to preserve it in the Mukpo family, and the occasion of establishing the new court, following the birth of Jetsun Drukmo, felt to them like the perfect moment to pass on this family treasure.
The Sakyong and Sakyong Wangmo greeted individually each of the guests, who had generously offered monthly support toward the new court.
