Join the Shambhala Times in celebrating the marriage of Cara Thornley and Allan Graves!

“On Wednesday, June 4th, we decided to get married…on Thursday, June 5th we did!”

Getting a marriage license in St. Johnsbury, Vermont is notoriously easy and, Cara says, “there were no blood tests!” Cara and Allan were able to get their license right away. They purchased their rings and got them re-sized within four hours. And then they called two dear friends, Tune Faulker and her husband Greg McNally.

Tune was available to marry the couple on such short notice and her husband Greg brought lilacs from their yard.

They quickly found the perfect wedding ceremony to use. It was the one that Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche composed in 2002. The marriage was performed in Cara and Allan’s home shrineroom in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

The group then went out for lunch at the local Thai restaurant.

“Everything worked out so well, it was like magic,” Cara says.
