Supporters of Sky Lake bring a great idea to fruition: holding an online fundraising auction with items donated from local friends and all around the mandala

First, let me answer a question that may be on your mind: Where is Sky Lake? It is located an hour and a half north of New York City in the Hudson Valley, in the little-known town of Rosendale. Rosendale has a Post Office, a book shop, a couple of restaurants, an indie arts cinema, and of course our beautiful Sky Lake Meditation and Retreat Center.

This year Sky Lake is kicking off a multi-phase capital campaign, raising funds for a new roof and a sustainable heating/cooling system, with an online auction. As we step into our 16th year, our intention is to show off Sky Lake, by showing off the generosity of the Shambhala World. So many Centers and so many friends of Sky Lake have been donating their art, books, and retreats, plus wellness products of all kinds, to the Sky Lake Auction. It is truly heartwarming to send out ask letters and get the replies right back the next morning, saying yes!, So, warmest thanks to all who have contributed items and services to our Auction.

The next step is to ask people to bid on the items! So everyone, please take a look at the list, and consider helping our little but mighty center, Sky Lake, make some major improvements. Help us become sustainable for now, by caring for our one and only building so it lasts and lasts for the many years to come.

Irene Woodard is a long time student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and The Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. She is currently the Head of Practice and Education at Sky Lake. She was a Resident Director for Shambhala Training in New York City for 5 years and Warrior of the Center for 5 years. She is a Kado student, a Kasung, a florist, and a mother of two.
