Sitting For the Climate: From the Touching the Earth Collective (part 1)
This invitation comes from the Touching the Earth Collective, a group of Shambhala environmentalists. Part 2 will include photos and stories from this demonstration.
Dear sangha, dear meditators,
We would like to invite you and ask for your support during a full day meditation session on Rudolfplatz, that we want to dedicate to climate and “less is more”. On the 20th of September, as you might have heard and can read in the attached link from “Globale Climat Strike” (https://de.globalclimatestrike.net/), a big demonstration all over the world and also here with us in Cologne!

We would like to support this and find our meditative approach very important, because it brings us to real contact and appreciation for us, to develop others and our environment in the simplest and most natural way by sitting down and becoming slow and feeling, what’s going on right now. Thus, in the midst of the hectic pace of Rudolfplatz, we can set a sign of pause and remind ourselves of it, that we can only find true satisfaction in ourselves and that we need the connection to the world, to nature and to humanity and do not want to destroy it.

Come all and join us! – Now it is more important and urgent than ever to be able to move and change something!
So that we are visible, we want to sit in layers, so that 10 of us always meditate and there is room for 10 guest meditators, who can join for a time of their own choosing. So please bring your friends and family with you. We also need a timer.
For times and positions we have added a Doodle list (https://doodle.com/poll/2y29ekqx6rxf2ggx). It would be great if you could sign up in large numbers and actively support the idea of “sitting for the climate”!
Meditation instruction and quotations on the walls will be provided.
The seat demo is registered and approved by the city from 9 to 18 o’clock.

We hope we can do that with you!

With kind regards,

Arnd and Katja Riester

I wrote to Cynthia and connected her to the Boulder Group, as Norlin Quad is in Boulder Colorado.

I’m a member of Eon Zen and can’t attend the sittings at the Norlin Quad with my my own sangha. Sensai Gyodo Agostinelli suggested that you are having sitting to honor this event as well. I signed up on Doodle and also wanted to introduce myself and provide contact information should you need it. Thanks for your response and I look forward to sitting with you on Friday. Below are emails of my Eon Zen sangha friends should you need more information from them.
